Well, is it? You could have fooled me if you answered no.
Recently, as in yesterday, Donald Trump took umbrage with the rate with which a fellow Veteran claimed Veterans were committing suicide. The Veteran claimed the rate was 20 Veteran Suicides per day and Trump corrected the Veteran and claimed the rate was 22 per day, not 20. Really? REALLY? We’re going to argue over a difference of two? Oh My God!!
GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump wrongly corrected a Marine veteran during a televised forum after she asked him what his plan would be to stop 20 veterans a day from committing suicide.
“Mr. Trump, I wanted to ask what your plan will be to stop 20 veterans a day from killing themselves,” said Rachel Fredericks, who served in the Marine Corps as an aviation operations specialist from 2008 to 2010.
“And actually it’s 22,” Trump responded during the forum hosted by NBC News and Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America.
Fredericks, identified as an undecided Republican who is leaning Trump, grimaced and shook her head.
Trump then added, “And it’s almost impossible to conceive that this is happening in our country. Twenty to 22 people a day are killing themselves.”
Although the rate of veterans suicide was previously estimated to be 22 a day, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs updated that number to 20 in August.
Trump in July received praise from a Washington Post fact-checking article for correctly citing the statistic of 20 veteran suicides a day.
Some researchers have discouraged emphasizing either number without context.
Trump is a buffoon. Why quibble over the number of Veteran Suicides? Whether it’s 20 or 22 is immaterial to the point. The point is, Veterans are committing suicide at an alarming rate. Or are they? I don’t know. What’s a normal rate of suicide for Veterans? Is there such a thing? Is it like Cholesterol Levels or Blood Glucose Levels where there’s a “Normal” range?
You want to bring that number down? Cut the military budget by 80% and reorganize, from Top To Bottom, what’s left so The Force that remains is as effective in defending The Mainland as it can be on a judiciously applied, yet limited, budget. Yes, that means no more adventures on Foreign Soil. That shouldn’t be a problem. Bill Clinton scoffed at Trump’s Make America Great Again campaign slogan likening it to him saying he’d like to be twenty again (I bet Bill would like to be twenty again — think of all The Tail he would be raping on campus again as though it were Groundhog Day, but of course, back in Bill’s Day it wasn’t called rape so his past transgressions are Grandfathered in). William Jefferson’s statement completely flew over the head of The Lamestream Media (I should say Brainstem versus head because The Lamestream Media doesn’t have a fully-developed head — only a Brainstem). Bill Clinton admitted that America is a Has Been. As such, the NeoLiberal/NeoConservative Project For A New American Century should be Put To Rest once and for all. In the sentiment of Bill Clinton’s own words, America can never be great again just as Bill can never be twenty again, so therefore it necessarily follows that America should stop pretending to be The Leader of The “Free” World.
As it stands now, my theory about Veteran Suicides is that many of these Poor Slobs are suffering from the onerous weight of years of unacknowledged & unrequited Cognitive Dissonance. Their Conscious Minds won’t allow them to countenance that their sacrifice was in vain — that they were exploited, used up and tossed aside like a Banana Peel for some other Poor Slob to slip on and break their neck — that they were mere Tools used to pad the Bank Accounts of The Shareholders Who Own The World.
If Kaepernick wants to protest something real & tangible, he should protest that. It will save many more lives than his imaginary cause.
In addition, unlike The Donald or Hillary Rotten Clinton, I have a great plan to get rid of The Islamic State/Daesh and it will get rid of NSA Cyber Trolls posting as an Army of Avatars in various comments sections at venues that discuss controversial topics that challenge people to think outside The Ordained Box. First, you must abolish the Alphabet Agencies. Yes, I’m aware that if you do that, you run the risk of creating an organic, indigenous American version of Daesh from these former, now dispossessed & powerless, Little Eichman Tyrants, so it will be necessary to isolate these former Little Eichman Tyrants on an Island (Papillon) where they can spy on one another and perform psyops of all sorts on one another to their Dark Heart’s Delight, while the rest of us can finally realize our full potential after having it neutralized for almost a century now since Truman legitimated the Intelligence Services and codified its existence as officially ordained.
“There is something about the way the CIA has been functioning that is casting a shadow over our historic position and I feel that we need to correct it.” President Harry S. Truman wrote those words in an op-ed for the Washington Post on Dec.22, 1963, entitled “Limit CIA Role to Intelligence.”
This was exactly one month after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and a bit more than 10 years before the formation of the Church Committee, chaired by Sen. Frank Church, D-Idaho, to study abuses in the intelligence committee (which was a precursor to today’s permanent Senate Select Committee on Intelligence). Now, more than 50 years after Truman’s op-ed, the intelligence committee has released a report investigating the CIA’s use of torture in the years after 9/11.
Yes, that means my good friend, The Colonel (yes, you, you “hard-hearted empath” prick who threatened me and my family while the Alphabet Agencies & The National Security State sat back & watched & laughed no doubt), who told me what good friends he is with the FBI Director du jour, needs, along with the rest of his colleagues past & present, to be removed from Civilization and placed on The Island to live out his/their remaining days without doing any further harm than he’s/they’ve already done.
Tying the two topics above together, how is it that The Generals and The Colonels aren’t committing suicide at this rate (be it 20 or 22 per day)? It appears to only afflict The Grunts. Curious, that. Tragic, actually, but also quite telling. Once again, folks, it’s all about Class. The Commissioned Officers are another Class (or at least they think they are) — they firmly believe they are part of the Aristocracy when in fact they are merely Errand Boys exhibiting Delusions of Grandeur.
